No stopping the EP KINGS NOW.

September 15, 2012 in rugby news

No contest as EP KINGS dominate the GRIFFONS.

EP KINGS is clearly now the most dominant side in the 1st Division Currie Cup league, the literally walked all over the Griffons who had no answer to the Kings. Luke Watson leading from the front scored 3 tries as his pack dominated from the front. Paul “the machine” Perez brute strength and powerful runs were no answer to the meager defence Griffons tried to put up. Perez scintillating 50 meter run provided the first try, while leaving behind him a battlefield of wounded as he barged all the way to the tryline. Both SP Marais and Tiger Mangweni crossed over for the second and third try respectively and by the time the first half was over,Watson’s first try secured the bonus point. Kings lead 29-0 at the break. Griffons put up a better performance in the second half and tried to come back but to no avail. The rock solid Kings defence was virtually impenetrable, stopping run after run and drive after drive, eventually Griffons found a gap and put in two quick tries but a little to late, A consolation try in the end allowed them a third. Another fantastic performance by Cornell du Preez was rewarded with an try. Replacement Siyanda Grey, not to be outdone burst through a tired defence and sprinted a good 40 meters for 9th try, final score 60 – 19 to the Kings.
